Cannes, France

14

The atmosphere was electrified with glitz and glamour during the 69th International Film Festival in Cannes. I didn't plan my visit to Cannes around the festival, I just happened upon it (one of those serendipitous things), which I'm ever so grateful for. It was my first brief exposure into the world of red carpets and celebrities and luxury; I floated in that world for a bit, before wandering out of the core and up a winding cobbled street to Le Suquet, the historic old town of Cannes. Back in the day (say, oh 400 years ago) it was the residential area for local fishermen. It was so calm, in stark contrast to what was happening below. You can take a leisurely stroll around while taking in the best panoramic views over Cannes and the Mediterranean Sea. Word is that the restaurants there are excellent, although I didn't get a chance to try.
