Known as the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for The Sound of Music, Salzburg is impressively well-preserved in its Baroque architecture, churches, castles and palaces. As a music history student years ago it's a surreal experience to visit Mozart's birth house (now museum), and try to sense his spirit throughout the city.
