Lucerne, Switzerland
06
The train through Switzerland to Lucerne was one of the most stunning experiences I had. Mountains seemingly close enough to touch, layers of roads and highways interspersed with rolling hills, and the fresh (read: smoke-free) air and water-- it was an indescribable feeling being with nature again. Lucerne's old town was reminiscent of many other small European old towns, but it also had enough of a city feel, and it was in close proximity to lakes and mountains. One of the highlights was going from tower to tower along Musegg Wall, part of the rampart walls built in 1386. The entirety of Zyt tower seems to be one giant clock (+ smaller clocks!); the oldest city clock is housed there.
