Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland

07

Possibly one of the most breathtaking, tranquil places I have ever been to. Lauterbrunnen, also known as the Valley of the 72 Waterfalls, is true to its name. Waterfalls are everywhere-- most are delicate, water tumbling down the cracks and ridges on the sides of the mountains. Some-- like the Trümmelbach-- are terrifying, roaring, unforgiving; a reminder that the forces of nature cannot be contested. It must be every hiker's dream to wander along the footpath: sheeps and cows roam quietly and peacefully, signs teach you about different types of waterfalls, and singing creeks and falls provide the perfect background music. A piece of my heart is left along that path.
