Spiez, Switzerland

08

Spiez is a quiet town in the Bernese Oberland region, a gem on the shores of Lake Thun. We stopped by for less than a day, but what a restful day that was. The town is ideal for exploring on foot, and only then can you really appreciate the shades of green and blue that dominate. A medieval castle sits overlooking the lake, and closeby are hilly vineyards. There's a winemaking and heritage museum at the bottom of the hill, where an elderly pair were kind enough to give a brief tour and explanation of Spiez's history and winemaking.
