St. Tropez, France

17

St. Tropez was a peaceful fishing town and military stronghold until the start of the 20th century. There is still tranquility found in cobbled alleyways, but since then (and with a little help from Brigitte Bardot), it's transformed into an iconic town for jet setters and a hot pick from tourists for perpetual sunshine and beach tanning. Most fascinating of all, this is where "tarte tropézienne" originated (which blew my mind)!! Tarte tropézienne is a cake made from brioche and pearl sugar and filled generously with luscious pastry cream-- it was actually named by Brigitte Bardot while she was there filming And God Created Woman
